We bring together restless change agents and intrapreneurs to learn, grow and navigate the challenges that come with the territory of making change happen. We're about supporting and stretching each other to make the impact we want to make while living a life by design.
We’re the type of people who can see a better future for our communities, our organisations, and for ourselves. And we’re not content to sit and wait for it to happen.
As George Bernard Shaw once said:
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.
Of course, he meant women as well :-)
Making change happen is hard. By definition, you’re going against the status quo. You’re being unreasonable. It can be lonely. It can be frustrating. It can feel like being in a maze, wading through treacle.
Someone has to go first. That’s probably you. Being out front exposes you to challenges on all sides. That’s risky and exhausting.
You start off with great intentions. You’re fired up and energised. Then you hit a hurdle. Maybe your ideas get shut down. Maybe you get smothered by other people's priorities. You lose momentum. You lose your mojo. You wonder whether it’s worth it. You’re tempted to get back in your box, play it safe, and wait for better circumstances.
Nope. That’s not you. You were born for greater things.
Let’s change all of that. Let’s make it easier. Let’s give you what you need to thrive.
Anthropologist Margaret Mead said:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
Change Makers Co-Lab is that group.
Back when I was at university, I was one of those people who had four or five disparate groups of friends, none of which naturally associated with the other. I used to love throwing parties where I'd invite every one of those groups along. I was kinda cheeky: I'd tell one group the theme was 'black tie', and I'd tell another group it was 'punk' and yet another group that it was 'beach party'. You can imagine the look on people's faces when they arrived! Those parties were legendary.
Here's the thing: I discovered that when you bring different people together in a welcoming environment that allows people to be themselves, magic happens. While our differences make us unique, it's the discovery of what we have in common that unlocks something special. That something is the power of community.
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked with hundreds of businesses and thousands of people. I’ve designed and delivered training courses, workshops, retreats, MBA programmes, and delivered 1:1 coaching. It was all good stuff.
But it had some limitations:
Behaviour change didn’t stick after the course was completed. We’ve all been there, right?
It didn’t tap the wisdom of the crowd. Everything relied primarily on me to show up and be the one sharing the content people wanted to receive.
Then, in 2017, I asked “what if I could create a community of people to support each other in their change-making efforts over time? What would happen?” That’s when I started the Change Makers programme in Wellington, New Zealand. The power of community immediately became apparent. This programme has created powerful shifts in those who have attended, primarily because of the connections people form in the room.
But the limitation of the Change Makers programme is that a) it’s reliant on people being in a room together, and b) it’s expensive.
I want the benefits of what we’ve seen so far to be more accessible to more people.
That's where Change Makers Co-Lab comes in.
Change Makers Co-Lab is both a course and a community. We're a group of restless go-getters on a mission to make a difference. Like you, we're self-driven, self-starters. We don’t need hand-holding, but we do value coming together for fresh perspectives, ideas, and inspiration to help us make the impact we want to make.
Here’s what you get when you join us:
The Change Makers Kick Start Course is your launchpad for turbo-charging your influence and impact. It's an interactive course that gives you the tools, language, and community to help you accelerate your impact, keep your energy high, and make your days easier.
Change Makers Kick Start is offered once per quarter. It runs over five consecutive weeks and includes live teaching sessions, live Q&A sessions, self-paced activities, and plenty of community interaction and feedback.
Over five weeks, we'll cover how to:
Identify and leverage your Change Maker Superpowers
Define your Big Question. That's the question that drives your sense of purpose and gives you a piercing focus.
Design and run deliberate experiments to accelerate your progress and deepen your learning
Cultivate a network that expands your reach and keeps you sharp. (You can't make change happen alone, right?)
Be more persuasive and influential to ensure your change-making efforts spread far and wide.
Our next Kick Start course starts on 6 September 2021.
You probably know that courses by themselves don’t cut it. Once the course is done, then what?
We combine the structure of a course with the power of a community.
Once you complete the Kick Start course, you’ll get to join the Change Makers Co-Lab Community for 12 months to help you apply your learning and keep growing along with your peers. Here's what we do together:
The Change Makers book is your portable guide to making your mark with more impact and less drama. It's packed with stories, ideas, and activities designed to get you focused and get you moving. When you sign up, you'll be sent your very own copy.
What good is a powerful community where you can ask questions, discuss challenges, and get feedback on your work - if you can’t get to it when you need it?
You can access the Co-Lab from an app on Apple or Android, or the web.
Nothing like having a community of passionate change-makers at your fingertips should it all turn to custard while you’re in the field, right?
You have your vision. You have persistence. The power of community is the missing ingredient. Together, Change Makers Kick Start + Co-Lab helps you tap into your own smarts along with the energy of a generous community. That way, you'll stay true to your convictions, build your connections, and get the traction you’re after.
When you join, you can:
Impact at scale, and not burn out trying
Become a valuable ally to those in power, not a threatening enemy
Focus on the critical few things that really matter, rather than spreading yourself too thin
Help others to learn, grow and find better ways of making change happen
Live a rich, rewarding life by design while making a meaningful difference to the world.
We’ve created Change Makers Co-Lab to give you the ongoing support you need to create real and lasting change while living an amazing life.
